Chloe Thach

Research Assistant

Chloe is a doctoral student in Environmental Health Sciences at the University of Michigan School of Public Health (UMSPH) (2026 cohort). Chloe began working with RESPIRAR in September 2025 on the analysis of Maryland Department of Labor H-2A employer-provided housing inspections. The team continued this investigation into policy and enforcement issues of migrant and seasonal farmworker (MSFW) drinking water and housing quality, where she continues to meet with stakeholders and review administrative documents to develop actionable recommendations for improvement. She also assisted the team during community-based system dynamics workshops with farmworkers in New Jersey and Maryland.

Chloe's work with RESPIRAR aligns with her interests of built environment impacts on community health, policy action for healthy environments of vulnerable communities, and systemic interventions to address persistent environmental injustices. Her research values include interdisciplinary collaboration, community-centered science, and collecting evidence for actionable interventions.

In 2026, Chloe graduated from UMSPH with her Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Environmental Health Sciences, with a concentration in Environmental Health Promotion and Policy and a graduate certificate in Social Epidemiology. Before pursuing her MPH, Chloe interned with county health departments in environmental health and emergency preparedness divisions. Her previous research experiences were in the disciplines of behavioral neuroscience, epigenetics, and environmental health equity.
